Dodson was born October 12, 1837 in Pike County, IL. He married Mary Jane Case in San Bernardino on December 25, 1860. Mary Jane was born October 31, 1846 in Madison County, IL. Dodson died February 23, 1920 in San Bernardino and Mary Jane died March 18, 1919 and they are buried in the Pioneer Cemetery.
