George Lord was born on June 27, 1800 in New York City, NY. He came to California in 1849 and worked the gold fields. In 1851 he married Arabella Singleton and they arrived in San Bernardino in 1852 where he became a rancher. Lord was the president of the Pioneer Society form 1888 to 1896. He died February 8, 1898 and is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in San Bernardino.
